I wanna make my new fursuit soon. REAL soon. Need fur...need money to buy fur...need job for money. Crap. Planfail.

Anyone have some extra leopard print and white and tan fur they wanna give up? :)

I'd cover shipping. Just want enough to make some handpaws :)

New hopes, new future, new life.

Sooooo yeah. Things are going....kinda ok....but I do have a nice little announcement...a certain someone who is a watcher/watched on this DA account and I have been talking kind of serious and hopefully soon she'll be moving out here to Ohio. If she's ok with it...this DA will be updated more often. If she wants to, she can actually come out and comment on this. If not, that's ok, too :)

Layoff scare and stuff

Fri Mar 13, 2009, 1:44 PM
Yep, I almost got laid off. Apparently, the big contract we had? Well, it seems they have hit their slow period. Basically, the 30-ish people we are supposed to be placing are now on layoff. No monies in...no monies out. Luckily the boss had an idea that kept me in a job. He wants to setup affiliate offices throughout the U.S. Guess who is doing the IT for that project? Yep. Oh yeah, and the website? Correct again. So luckily, all the hours I've spent on the computer over the years doing websites/IT work is now paying off. I kept my job, dodged the bullet matrix-style and I'm still working.

One of the big indicators of the market finally turning around is in the temp industry. Basically, people layoff their full-time employees since they can use temps much cheaper. Not to mention it's easier when the primary employer no longer has to cover unemployment costs for the laid-off staff. Instead, the staffing agency has to cover it. Lower cost to companies = more people can keep jobs. Necessary evil? Yep. But, it keeps me working.

It's Friday the 13th. I'm waiting for a server to start smoking or e-mail to start getting eaten. It's gonna happen. I know it.

Other than that, things are going as good as they can. I'm getting closer to getting outta the halfway house, which is great...except I have nowhere to go. I have a couple of irons in the fire, so hopefully one will turn up.

Holy crap, I've been neglecting my DA journal! Well, I have a new job: I'm the Head of IT/Webmaster for a staffing agency in Akron. My duties are basically making sure that the computers don't crap out (Win 98SE sucks!), the network is stable (friggin' Yahoo/SBC!!) and that our website works...which it does...as I get the pages made *cough*. Other than that, I'm alive and kicking, and I promise to update my neglected journal more often *petpets it*.
